Style and Approach
Courtney is a generalist tutor that is able to tutor students from 3rd-12th grade. She is able to focus on all English and social studies levels, elementary math to algebra 2, elementary science, middle school science, living environment, and earth science. In addition to academic support, Courtney is an expert on study skills, time management and executive functioning.
Courtney has a knack for finding students’ academic weaknesses and building a plan that addresses the weakness while building students’ confidence. She prides herself on building a relationship with the students to get to the root of the problem. Students find themselves taking more academic risks because they trust that Courtney will not let them fail. This approach has aided countless students passing their classes, and even graduating high school with new found skills, and success.
Courtney works with each family to develop a custom academic plan that meets each student’s individual needs. She is able to work with any, and all students. Her speciality is working with students with social emotional needs, ADHD, anxiety, and autism. She truly understands how the student’s brain works and is able to translate that to parents and other professionals.
Currently, Courtney is a high school special education teacher that has designed her own class that focuses on addressing the social emotional needs of students, and a self- contained social studies program that works on critical thinking and analysis for students with disabilities.
